About Oliver Bonacini

Peter Oliver and Michael Bonacini first joined forces in 1993 when they opened Jump--a big, bold New York style cafe and bar. Jump's success among Toronto's Bay Street crowd was instantaneous, being named Canada's "Best Restaurant for Business" by the Globe and Mail within months.

In 1995 the Oliver Bonacini partnership scored again when it opened Canoe Restaurant & Bar, bringing haute-Canadian cuisine to the top of Toronto's TD Bank Tower. Showcasing the freshest and finest regional ingredients, Canoe continues to be one of the most successful and critically acclaimed restaurants in the country. In 1997, Oliver and Bonacini began sharing ownership of Oliver's accomplished North Toronto restaurant, Auberge du Pommier. believing firmly that the synergy of their partnership would lead Auberge to all new levels. And so it has, as this exquisite circa 1860's cottage continues to be hailed for its chic rustic beauty, impeccable French cuisine and outstanding service. In 2006 Auberge du Pommier was named Top Restaurant by Post City Magazines.

The past few years have been extremely busy ones for Oliver Bonacini as continuing expansion has doubled the size of its portfolio. In 2000, OB opened Biff's, an upscale French bistro and wine bar in the Yonge-Front theatre core. Then in 2002, it turned the idea of "mall food" on its side with the opening of Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill in the Bayview Village Shopping Centre. Making OB's first entry into the casual dining market, the cafe grill quickly earned a reputation for its homemade quality and downtown style. Its remarkable success has since led to the November 2005 opening of Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill, Blue Mountain in the brand new Westin Trillium House.

In recent years, Peter and Michael also backed their long time pastry chef David Castellan in his dream of opening Soma Chocolatemaker, an extraordinary artisan chocolatier and ice cream producer in Toronto's Distillery District. Soma is now considered one of the highest quality chocolate makers in the country.
